  • A total of 591 bills have passed this session, which is 16 more than last year.
  • As we look closer into bills that have a statewide impact, we will work with the governor's office to understand how these will impact our divisions.

HB 115 Cultural and Community Engagement Amendments Combines the arts advisory board and museum advisory board into one arts and museums advisory board. It also restructures the Cemetery Program, previously under the Historical Society, to fall under SHPO. It will also clarify the UServeUtah chair process. There is an amendment which changes to SHPO's grant process with landowners.

The budget for FY25 has been finalize by the legislature. We are pleased with what our department has been awarded, including the continuation of the general grants within Arts & Museums, operating funds for UServe, support for the Cemetery program, America250 funding, and others. HB 206 Young Adult Service Fellowship offers recent high school graduates an opportunity to serve, earn a basic living wage, and prepare for college with a tuition and education stipend. Participants will be eligible for the $7,400 stipend if they complete 1,700 hours of service, mainly in social services. This bill is on it's way to the Governor!
